Please note that your wedding will be civilly recognised and registered with the Directeur de l’État Civil (Quebec Government) .
After the ceremony, you may order an official marriage certificate that will be recognised by your province, state or residence country. A delay of 20 days must be respected before the wedding date for the publication of the wedding bands, although a dispense or waving of the bands may be guaranteed.
In order to set up your file, you will have to provide the officiant with a copy of your birth certificate, and also of your divorce decree or spouse’s death certificate, shold it be the case. Some other personal information must also be provided to complete the file. In the province of Quebec, it is not necessary to obtain a marriage license or to pass a blood test in order to be married.
